UCC Economics Conference 01/02/2014

The University College Cork Economics Society would like to welcome you to its flagship event, the UCC Economics Conference 2014 which will be held in the Aula Maxima, UCC on Saturday the 1st of February.

Speakers on the day will include:
- Tim Harford, author, Financial Times columnist and BBC Radio presenter;
- Megan Greene, chief economist with Maverick Intelligence and senior fellow at the Atlantic Council;
- Sinead Ryan, journalist and columnist with The Herald and Irish Independent, specialising in consumer and personal finance issues;
- Ciarán Lynch, Irish parliamentary representative with Labour and chairman of the Finance Committee.

- Peter Mathews T.D.
- Brendan Keenan, former Economics Editor for Independent Newspapers
- Declan Jordan, UCC
- Seamus Coffey, UCC
- Robbie Butler, UCC
- More speakers will be confirmed in the coming days.

The conference is intended to unite leading academics and practitioners in the field to discuss economic problems with a view towards finding a pathway into the future. Applying the discussion to matters of politics and policy will focus the conference on the most current topics in a continually challenging economic environment.

Importantly this discussion will take place in a college setting and will have the power to influence economic thinking into the future through the attending students, who will also be given an opportunity to question the prevailing economic thought and policy issues on the day.
Tickets for the conference, which runs from 11am-5pm on Saturday the 1st of February, are €10 and are on sale both online and on campus.
